Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets 6-8 ounces each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

Preheat the Grill or Oven

  • Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grates with oil to prevent the salmon from sticking.
  • Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Prepare the Salmon Fillets

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This ensures they sear better and get crispy.
  • Rub the salmon fillets with olive oil on both sides.
  • Season the fillets with garlic powder, smoked paprika, lemon pepper, salt, and black pepper. Make sure the seasoning is evenly distributed on each fillet.

Cook the Salmon

  • Grill: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Grill the salmon for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  • Oven: Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F and the salmon is opaque in the center.

Prepare the Lemon Butter Glaze

  • While the salmon is cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the fresh lemon juice and honey. Bring to a simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the glaze to thicken slightly.
  • Remove from heat and stir in fresh parsley.

Serve the Salmon

  • Once the salmon is cooked, remove it from the grill or oven and drizzle the lemon butter glaze over the top.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Use Fresh Salmon: Fresh salmon will always give you the best results. If using frozen, make sure to thaw it completely before cooking to ensure even cooking.
Don’t Overcook: Salmon is best when it’s slightly pink in the center, as overcooking can make it dry. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature, which should reach 145°F for perfectly cooked salmon.
Grilling Tips: If grilling, cook the salmon with the skin on. It helps retain moisture and prevents the fillets from falling apart.
Lemon Butter Glaze: Adjust the amount of lemon juice to suit your taste. For a more intense lemon flavor, increase the lemon juice by a tablespoon.
Basting: While grilling, baste the salmon with the lemon butter glaze halfway through cooking for an extra layer of flavor.
