- 12 oz pasta penne or fusilli
- 8–10 oz Italian sausage casing removed
- 1 bunch asparagus trimmed and cut
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large lemon zest and juice
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped
- 3 cups water or broth
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
Stir in garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
Add pasta and water or broth. Simmer until pasta is halfway cooked.
Stir in asparagus and continue cooking until pasta is tender and liquid reduces.
Add butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Toss to create a light sauce.
Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan and dill, season to taste, and serve warm.
